It is so difficult to summarize a calling or a service in a few words or a small soundbite. I have decided that the Artist's Statement is a better model to communcate my message.

Artist Statement

Whom I serve. The people I am here to serve are identified most readily by their deep frustration with events in their lives.

The frustration may show up as things that used to work, not working any more. In business, in relationship, in health – things seem to be falling apart, and former solutions just aren't working.

The frustration may come with the recognition of what feels like a repeating, self-sabotaging pattern. The same challenges in relationships, the same struggles in business, the same battles with health or wellness issues.

These frustrations all point to the same root cause: when you are having these experiences and feeling this deep frustration, it means you are ready to make a quantum leap to a new level of being, and are not making the leap.

You may well have the sense you are on the brink of something far larger and more magnificent, and at a deep level know you are avoiding the call. If so, you will recognize this deep frustration of the spirit. You know you are powerful, and you are not accessing your full power. Your fear or doubt feels stronger than your courage. Like on a trapeze, you have to let go of the old to fly to the new platform. And it's not happening.

No wonder you are so frustrated.

What I do. I guide and support you to make that quantum leap to magnificence. The end result is that the frustration evaporates. You get deeply and viscerally in touch with who you truly are, what you really want, and what you came here to do. You move forward powerfully into what you are called to do, with courage, clarity, inspiration and joy.

I do this through imagery remapping of the unconscious mind, then coaching and training to integrate and hold the new space that is created. I use a wide variety of energy modalities, work deeply with values, and receive powerful guidance from the creative source that connects us all.

Who I am. I stand in the center in almost every area of my life – in the center between science and woo-woo, between left brain and right brain, in the center between masculine and feminine, between country and city, between quiet and active, between mother and daughter. Because of this, I am a bridge between opposites, working to heal the black-and-white dichotomies we create. I am working for peace through creating inner alignment and acceptance of wholeness.

My work is based on the following premises:

There is nothing to fix. There is much to release.

Energy, possibility, love and joy want to flow beautifully; my work is to remove the barriers to that flow.

There is always far more possibility than either/or.

Healing is about sincerely acknowledging and loving the parts of you that you have resisted, while forgiving yourself for the resistance.

There is always more freedom, more creativity, more joy, more abundance and more love than we can ever imagine.

It is the specific, heartfelt, beautiful imagining that sets us free.

Namaste and great thanks to you for your presence.

I would be delighted and grateful to you for commenting, for "liking" this, and for passing this on to anyone with whom you think it might resonate.

I began this blog post earlier this morning, and gave it the title and opening line I did, before I picked up my new issue of YES magazine, in which I read this quote:

“If you meet the people who are working to restore this earth and the lives of the poor and you aren’t optimistic, you haven’t got a pulse.”

Or, perhaps, if you are feeling hopeless, it’s time to ask yourself,

“What am I choosing to pay attention to?”

The mainstream media has basically one voice. And it is a voice that loves doom and gloom, scarcity and fear.

I threw out my TV long ago, and I am very conscious of what I listen to on the radio. I stay in the conversations that move me toward feeling the way I want to feel, the ones that are seeking reasons to be optimistic and hopeful.

While I can’t stay there every minute, it allows me to move back into love and optimism when I get caught in fear and lack.

My issue of YES magazine (the single magazine subscription I maintain) arrived a few days ago, and I have to tell you – this magazine provides a view into the new world as I believe it is unfolding.

I am personally seeing way too much movement toward consciousness and love to believe that we are doing anything other than moving massively in a completely new and positive direction. And the more people who turn and focus in that direction, the better of we will all be.

I am not saying to be a Pollyanna. But I do know that there is always evidence to support every position. You will find the evidence you seek. If you follow the news, you will be fed evidence that things are pretty damn hopeless. On the other hand if you choose to read something like YES magazine, you're going to come away inspired and ready to roll up your sleeves and do the one little thing that occurs to you to do.

Which might be, simply to maintain an attitude of hope. Please know – if that's "all" you can do, it's a lot.

I hope this helps you to let go of the fear and focus toward the direction you want to go.

It all reminds me of a parable I’ve heard many times, about an Indian elder and his grandson.

The grandfather told the little boy that there are always two wolves fighting inside of him, one which is scared and defensive and the other is loving and kind. He will feel them fighting inside him as he moves through his life.

“Which one wins, Grandfather?”

“The one you feed.”

PS the link to YES Magazine is not an affiliate link – I just love passing on this magazine. Please check it out and let me know if you do too!!

PPS. Please, if you wonder what you can do – please consider starting by simply forwarding the link to this posting to people you know who are struggling to have hope. Thanks! I really appreciate it.

The Doors of San Miguel
(San Miguel de Allende, Mexico)

When you travel in a foreign country, it’s always a surprise what the more striking differences are.

In San Miguel for me, it was the doors.

Here in the US, we are largely defined by our houses. And our houses are on view for the world to see.

Not so in San Miguel. They may be defined in some way by their houses, I don’t know. I was not there long enough to learn that sort of nuance. But what is clear from the first moment is that there is far more here than is on display for the public eye.

The streets are narrow, between tall walls. And the walls are full of doors. Plain doors, ornate doors, colorful doors, tall, short, wide and narrow doors. Dr. Seuss would have had a heyday, rhyming about the doors of San Miguel.

First thing in the morning, the doors are all closed. Then little by little some begin to open and you get to peer inside. Oh! An iron working shop next door to our house. A miniscule grocery store across the street. Things begin to be hung in the doorway so you can see what they hold.

By far, though, most remain closed. Gradually as you make friends and get to visit, you see that there is an amazing world behind these doors. What appears to be one more narrow space widens as you enter into a spacious home. Courtyards, tiled rooms filled with beautiful fabrics, old timbers, leather – or maybe very modern furniture and light.

From outside, you’d never know. It’s a continual, delightful surprise.

Space seems to expand, behind the doors. How does all this fit into the apparent space allowed behind this door? It’s a mystery. Kind of like the time in Mexico…it seems to expand to allow for everything that needs to happen.

In her wonderful book The Land of Little Rain Mary Austin wrote: “This is the sense of the desert hills, that there is space enough and time enough.” That is my take away from the doors of San Miguel. Behind those doors, and in fact throughout that wonderful place, there is space enough and time enough.

I felt that wonderful awareness sink into my bones, and I believe I was able to carry some of that home.

May we all know space enough and time enough.

Are your relationships lively and loving? Do you feel excited and grateful to get to do the work you do? Do you feel creative and alive? Physically, are you feeling healthy and vibrant?

If not – is there some reason that this is OK? What voice inside you is saying that this is enough? That’s the question that will lead you to make the changes that really count.

The very best reason to make personal change is to move to a higher level of vibrancy.

To feel more enthusiasm and to be more engaged with your life. To feel more joy, more life, more love., more peace.

There is a powerful model of change for people like you, who are doing well…and want to do even better, who want to experience even more.

Deep change that achieves high vibrancy is based on a simple core principle:

Your unconscious mind is responsible for the vast majority of your actions, behaviors and results.

When you want to change your results, the place to make change is at the deepest possible unconscious level. There are specific steps to do this.

The first step is to find the recurring patterns in your life that are not working. Get as clear as you can about what those patterns are. Define them as clearly as you can.

Once you have defined the pattern, listen for the inner voice that is creating it. Get curious. What is it that part of you is saying, that keeps creating this pattern? If you can’t actually hear it, what do you imagine it must be, in order to create this result?

Then the works is to shift that voice into one that supports the patterns you want instead. How to do this is beyond the scope of this article. I invite you to explore what is possible – there are incredibly powerful tools available to shift your unconscious patterns. Click here for one simple, fun example.

There is a hierarchy to the process of change.

Your values create your beliefs, which define your attitudes, which drive your behaviors, which create your results.

The closer you go to the source to make change, the deeper and more permanent the change will be.

If you simply change a behavior to get a different result, it is may be a short-lived change, or you may may change an annoying habit, which is great. When you can change a belief, the change will go far deeper. When you clear up a core values conflict, you will experience stunningly beautiful, peaceful and permanent results. This is the level at which you will change your life.

As you change, you will move through levels of awareness in a specific way.

When you first reach a new level of awareness, there is a period of time of learning, exploring, integrating that awareness.

Eventually, you approach the edge of that level, and begin to want more. There is generally a growing sense of deep frustration at this point, if you get to the edge and can’t quite shift.

When the shift occurs, there is a major AHA moment, when you truly see the world through a new lens. You jump to the next level.

You re-enter the time of exploring, learning and integrating, at the new level.

In the early levels, as you are learning how to work with your unconscious, you can do much of this work yourself.

The deeper you go into your awareness, the more you need guidance to access the unconscious areas that are ready to shift. (Using myself as an example: when I bump up against an irritating limitation, I will do the things I know to do, to release it. And when I sense myself reaching the edge of a quantum level, I go for help. There are simple ways to tell the difference)

Making deep and lasting change can be fun and exciting.

I find it an intriguing and engaging puzzle, to get to the place where things just get easier and you can’t even really say why. The pictures inside get different, the thoughts you think become more fun and interesting, the monkey mind takes a break and you wake up in the morning with your creative juices flowing.

That’s the world I want to be part of!! How about you?

If you want to know more about how your unconscious mind works, I offer a recording which covers this much more thoroughly.

Go to the registration box at the left, fill in your name and email, and hit submit – I'll get it right to you!

If you've found this article helpful, will you please help me by sharing it with your friends, and people who might also find it intriguing? I sure appreciate it! Thanks for being here, reading and exploring, and commenting!

Quick and easy, 3 minute video tool.

Do you find affirmations a bit hard to swallow?

Like: “If I believed that, I’d be doing it already!” right?

While I do know affirmations can work, to me they feel a bit like hitting your inner mind with a two-by-four, to beat it into accepting something it doesn’t believe yet. Instead of beating it in, why not be smarter? Be a bit stealthy, and sneak it in the back door. Goofing around and tricking your unconscious mind a little bit makes it a LOT easier to change a belief.

Why change a belief? When you change a belief, you change your actions, and changing your actions, of course, will change your results.

Just Change the Question you are asking.

Use this simple tool to easily re-set your expectations and beliefs about who you are, what you do, what’s easy or hard – in such a way that you naturally begin to do things that previously you avoided, considered difficult, or just not “who you are“.

There’s a reason over 10,000 people have viewed this and passed it on to their friends. I invite you to do the same thing.

Watch this video, try it out and then go ahead and opt-in below to receive daily reminders for ten days, to create the habit of using it.

Yes, thanks! I’d love to get reminders for ten days to help me remember this tool.

Trust that your imagination is real.

-Albert Einstein

I love to mull over things like this that such a great thinker has said…

What was Einstein thinking about when he said that?
Why does it matter?
How does it apply to my life, minute by minute?

I’ve recently had quite an epiphany around this one.

We DO trust that our imagination is real. All day, every day – and we often let it run our life in ways that definitely do not serve us.

When you are walking down the street, and you pass a good friend, and she ignores you – where does your imagination go?

“Is she mad at me? What did I do to alienate her? How can I make it up? Do I have bad breath and not know it? Is it this person I’m walking with? Does she not like them so she’s ignoring me?”

On and on ad nauseum. Our little monkey brain can make quite a mountain out of that molehill in a nano-second.

When the only known fact is that she walked by without acknowledging you.

Even the word ignore is a mind-read. You don’t know that she was ignoring you. All you know is that she did not acknowledge you.

Who knows – maybe she just got a piece of really bad news. Maybe she’s rehearsing for an important meeting. Maybe she has a rock in her shoe and it’s taking all her attention. Who KNOWS. Probably, for any of these or a million other reasons, she just didn’t see you.

The point is, you don’t know, and your imagination has created a huge scenario that you are in the absolute middle of believing is real.

When I was first training in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) the idea of what is fact vs. what is a mind-read was really hammered in. I quickly got to the point of – OK, I get it, enough already! Now that I’ve worked with people over many years, I have come to appreciate the value of this idea at a very deep level. The power of recognizing when you are dealing with a fact, and when you are mind reading, cannot be overstated.

If you want to feel better, right away, in almost any situation, practice staying aware of when you are dealing with facts, when you are dealing with mind-reads, and how to tell the difference. Listen to how big a story you are weaving about something that you’ve made up. Recognize that it IS your imagination, feel into how REAL it seems – and then choose. What better reality could you imagine? What reality would you LIKE to imagine?

Oh yes, your imagination is real. This may not have been exactly what Einstein was thinking of – but it’s a really good tool for seeing just how real you DO credit your imagination for being. Your imagination is so real it can absolutely ruin your day, a friendship, and almost anything else, if let run rampant.

On the other hand – IMAGINE how you can change what you are imagining, so you are happier and better able to function well in the world.

I rarely get on Facebook and spend any amount of time at all…but this morning I got into a chat with a friend I made at a training four years ago. We hadn't connected in awhile, and we got caught up on each other's lives and progress.

We'd both been up, we'd both been down, and we shared the expansions, the contractions, the continual process of moving in and out of inspiration, connection, awareness and love.

There was a lot of brilliance shared back and forth (just ask us! HA) but the best, for me, was at the very end. I just had to jump right over here and share his closing words:

Find more people that help you create upward spirals. If i had to give you advice.. that would be it.

That is so clear, so concise, and so right on. Choose the people around you such that you are creating upward spirals together.

Yeehaw! What a simple recipe for a delicious life.

When you compare yourself with others, you will always come up lacking, because of an illusion.

There’s so much noise online about instant success and immediate manifestation – and what I now know, knowing many of these people personally, is that the ones who look like and talk like overnight successes have been working a long, long time to make it happen. And, things may not actually be happening in the consistently magical way that they lead you to believe.

A good friend was so excited about her big break on a radio show, where she made a spectacular offer and got two takers.

“I wonder what I’m doing wrong to excite the people enough to want to be part of the call and to take me up on this offer – even though it’s free and great value.”

I wrote a message back and then decided it was something I wanted to say in a broader forum. Many of you are heart-centered online entrepreneurs, so this will apply in that way for you. And, I believe it applies across the board in life. I know it’s a question I wrestle with, as I wrestle with not getting taken out of the game when I have an expectation (I tend to call it a hope but really, I know it’s an expectation) of a certain outcome that doesn’t happen. So – slightly edited, here’s what I said to her. And know this, as you read it…this is an open letter, and a reminder, to MYSELF, as much as to you or anyone else.

You know, I don’t believe that you are doing ANYTHING “wrong”. What I have learned is that it takes time to develop relationships where people buy. It’s always been true and it’s true now more than ever. My experience, and that of people I am close to in this online world, is that you will most likely make your sales to your own list, where people have watched you, followed you, and trust you.

So – it’s a matter of baby steps and consistency. And you are hearing this from a woman who is in the same frustrating place, so don’t think that I’ve got it all figured out. Staying on top of the financial game while making that happen…keeping your energy up to keep giving and giving when you begin to doubt whether people even want what you offer…we ALL share those doubts at times. Then that magical letter or email comes through that tells you how much you’ve changed someone’s life, and a little breath comes back in and keeps you moving.

Get people on your list, or into your sphere of influence however you do, from where ever you can. Certainly, doing that is an art that you can get better and better at. After all, it’s not free. You are asking them for something big – access to their inbox, when everyone wants LESS e-mail. So, gaining that first level of trust is a skill to develop.

Once they agree to trust you, start really giving them serious regular value. BE who you are and let them experience who you are. It will flow from there.

The challenge can certainly be not becoming so paralyzed by the financial challenges that you stop doing those things that have the long-term payoff. That’s where it becomes critical to stick to the foundational practices that keep you centered, grounded, and in touch with your personal guidance or inner wisdom, so you can hear the next step and be willing to take it. Your exercise, meditation, nutrition…all the basic pieces it takes to be truly healthy in mind body and spirit.

There’s so much noise online about instant success and immediate manifestation – and what I now know, knowing many of these people personally, is that the ones who look like and talk like overnight successes have been working a long, long time to make it happen. And, things may not actually be happening in the consistently magical way that they lead you to believe.

Don’t get fooled into thinking that they have some magic pill that you don’t have. They don’t. They started at a different time, for one thing, and stuff in the online world has shifted DRAMATICALLY even just in the past year. People are overloaded, tired of the hype and very, very leery of the offers. But that just emphasizes what is true, always. There’s really very rarely an “overnight success”.

It’s a long road of consistent action from the heart that is the most sure way.

As Brian Johnson says (although I think he was quoting someone else): “For the one who continues, failure becomes impossible and winning becomes inevitable.”

Life, in all its forms and aspects, is DEFINITELY a relationship-building track…and that takes time, consistency and consciousness.

Keep the long perspective. Have a meeting with your 110 year old self, and listen to what advice she gives you.

Stay open, listen to and follow your inspired nudges. Keep doing the things that let people see who you really are.

Meanwhile, make the actual income-producing activities the first business priority each day, so you stay afloat long enough for the payoff. (I see the absolute first priority before business being to maintain my personal practice).

And remember this – this was an open letter to MYSELF, more than to you or anyone else.

At the end of the day, don’t compare your INSIDES to anyone else’s OUTSIDES. You will always come up lacking, because of an illusion.

You’ve got a good heart. Run with it.

Do you ever feel like you’ve just hit a wall in your business, and the things that used to work for you all of a sudden just DON’T? Maybe you just don’t feel like yourself: you’re procrastinating or avoiding making calls, stuck in trying to make things perfect or sliding down that slippery slope of comparing yourself to others and coming up short. Maybe you’ve just quit networking and feel like you’re kind of hiding behind your computer. Or maybe you’ve got a product or service to launch and you are just NOT getting it done.

Sometimes it almost feels like aliens have taken over your once-capable self! At those times, it’s hard not to feel like a fraud, when you’re falling short in the areas where you’re supposed to be the expert.

What’s up with all this?

There are actually a couple of possibilities. Maybe you’re just plain tired, overwhelmed, need to figure out how to take a break or get some more help or somehow get a little slack in the system.

OR MAYBE there’s something bigger afoot.

Maybe, just maybe, your heart has hit the point where it is done going along with doing what’s practical, fitting in, playing it safe. Maybe you’ve been following other people’s dreams or suggestions. There’s actually a really good chance that your heart is saying it’s time for you to step up in a whole new way. Dig deeper, go farther, and do the scary stuff that really MATTERS to you.

There’s the question. Are you doing things that take you outside the box and scare you with their audacity? Are you taking the chances that you dream of taking? Trying the big bold ideas that will cause your business to grow, thrive, stretch and blossom?

Your heart knows. You gut knows. Are you just tired, or are you tired of playing small?

The thing is, when your heart decides it’s time for you to show up in a bigger way, you don’t really get a choice. The bigger part of you is going to pull the plug on things as they have been.

You begin to get nudges – and if you ignore them, you get stronger nudges. I think of it as the feather, the brick and the Mack truck. You can listen when the message is the tickle of a feather, (a simple nudge to try something new) or you can wait to get hit by a brick (a near miss or small accident that makes you sit up and take notice) – and if you ignore those, look out for the Mack truck! The business failure, the loss of a loved one, the cancer.

The farther you get in life, the more your heart wants you to do what really matters. What you came here to do. And it will set things up (or make things stop) until you get that message.

If this message hits you in the gut, that’s good information. You know that there’s something like this going on inside. At a deep level you know that the problems you are struggling with in your business are the result of this call from your heart, to adjust your path, to go deeper, to find and create more meaning.

If that’s true, there’s a lot you can do to support yourself, to make the exploration and the transition beautiful and joyful, rather than scary and painful. I’d love to invite you into a conversation about what’s happening inside, when it gets harder and harder to make things happen on the outside. And about the powerful things you can do to make the ride amazing.

You can register (at left) to download my free e-book and audio, and if this really resonated, you can apply for a complimentary Discovery Session to find out what is really going on at the unconscious level in your life.

Do you ever find yourself stopped in your tracks?

Here's a mindset piece to help you pick up and move forward with passion.

Maybe you have your newsletter all set to go – and don’t hit the send button.

Maybe you have your talk 90% complete, but instead of polishing it and setting up dates to deliver it, you veer off into working on your website.

Maybe you teach how to be organized and run a very efficient effective business – and you know you’re not doing that yourself right now.

Any one of these things can leave you feeling like a fraud – knowing that you’re not doing what you know you need to do.

And here’s what I have come to see, in my work – most of the time when this is happening, there’s one key piece of self doubt hiding at the bottom of all these scenarios.

Some facet of I’m not enough.

I’m not ready enough. I don’t have enough information. I don’t have enough training. I’m not fast enough. I’m not smart enough. I don’t have enough credentials. Or that old voice: Who do you think you are, anyway?

Or maybe you go into comparisons instead:

So and So has already done this. They know how to do this. They have more experience. They’ve got more knowledge. They’ve got a better background. They’ve got a bigger list. They’ve got a proven product. I’ll never catch up. I have to do something different. That’s already been done.

On and on…

Well, if this sounds like something you tell yourself sometimes – I’ve got an idea I’d like you to consider.

We live in an amazing time in the history of the world. There is so much growth of consciousness and awareness, connectivity and incredible growth and expansion. It is a time of miracles.

We all came here, to this world, to participate. We each brought a piece of the puzzle of what is being created…our own unique, beautiful piece.

Maybe you can feel this inside of you. I think, if you are in this conversation, the likelihood is high that you have this feeling inside:

That you are here to do something important, meaningful and beautiful.

I agree with that. I happen to think that everyone who is here on earth is here to bring a beautiful piece of the whole. Especially those heart-centered people who are actively seeking ways to be more effective, more influential, more successful – those of you who are in that place know it. You know there’s something big afoot and you’re here to be part of it.

So here’s the idea to consider:

You are carrying a piece of the whole. A piece of the big beautiful puzzle of what we are creating right now. A piece that is absolutely unique to you. Even if your message may sometimes sound like someone else’s message – only you can deliver it in your special way, which will be heard by the people who resonate with you.

Only you can deliver your piece. No one else can.

Which means that if you don’t bring it, no one will. Your part of all this beauty will not show up. It will forever be missing.

So any time you question whether you are enough – enough of anything, in any way, remember this.

The world needs what you bring. Without it, that piece will be missing forever. Please,

Summon your courage.
Clear the doubt.
Center in your power.

Do what it takes to allow yourself to bring your piece.

It is time.

Namaste
