Coming to our new world
The ship that brought us here
Within sight of our new home
Cannot carry us all the way into land.
The water is too shallow.
There are no piers.
There is no infrastructure here.
Some have climbed into life boats
But even they cannot make it through the roughness of the surf
There it is.
Our new home.
Just over there. Just out of reach.
It looks like we’ll have to fly to get there.
So scary. So big. How could we do this?
We do NOT KNOW how to fly!!!
Terror and pandemonium fill the deck.
Some are ready to try,
Some are trying and falling,
Many are holding back.
Arranging the deck chairs
or terrified seasick desparing
facedown in the galley
or attacking the captain
This approach to our new home is not for the faint-of heart
This journey has just gotten VERY real.
And I notice.
Even in the turmoil it’s becoming clear.
We will do this.
The light is drawing the moth.
I know I will go there,
Even as I shrink back in terror at the thought of flying alone.
I look around and see,
That I am far from alone.
We know we will do this
Even as we doubt we can.
Something reaches out to us from that new world
There has been a touch across the ether
All the way to our ship
We’ve felt it.
I have felt that flame burst into a million lives in my heart
Even as my animal freezes in fear
at the immensity of the feeling
I’ve felt the heat of that light.
The light of having an idea and following it with no second guessing
The light of feeling a nudge and going, being led to life changing meetings and serendipities
The light of creating with abandon.
The light of being so very relaxed and happy, connected to life, belonging to life, surrendering into the oneness.
The sheer utter warm abandon of that visceral surrender into belonging.
Yes, I can see it will be an individual journey for me, to fly to this new land.
And I can’t do it alone.
None of us can.
We can’t fly in the air we’ve been breathing.
It’s too thin.
We have work to do here.
We’ve got to create a new atmosphere together.
We have to breathe something into the space between us.
Create some density.
An atmosphere that can hold us up as we fly.
What is it?
What can we breath into the air
What will be strong enough to create the support we need
for ourselves and each other?
It comes to me, the breath on the ether.
” Appreciation,” it says.
The beautiful, powerful density of sincere appreciation.
As I consider.
Building this new atmosphere of appreciation
As I imagine it,
I can feel the beautiful density supporting me
As I step out and find
I actually already know how to fly.
Close your eyes.
Focus your ears.
Can you hear it?
Can you feel it?
Can you taste it?
As we breathe this new atmosphere into being
And as we help each other
We will look around one day
That we have learned how to fly.
We’ll know this
Because we’ll be flying.
On that day we will notice that we are in our new world
